Getting around Daytona Beach is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Florida's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Although the staff at this school is respectful, this school has truly made me struggle with furthering my academics. After finishing my first semester at DSC I talked to an academic advisor about switching to an associate of science due to my intended forensic science major. I was told it was too late and I needed a degree to fall back on incase I did not like forensic. I have struggled getting into programs due to not having necessary science classes because I was not listened to my first semester. Pay attention and ensure what classes are required for your bachelors before enrolling in Daytona State due to the lack of consistency and care for students futures.

I would strongly advise against enrolling in this barbering program if you are serious about becoming a professional barber. The level of disorganization, incompetence, and complete lack of professionalism in this program is honestly ridiculous. People are paying hard-earned money for an education, and what they receive in return is a half-assed experience with outdated equipment, broken classroom chairs, and an administration that seems like it couldnโt care less about the students. The barbering program constantly feels shoved to the side in favor of cosmetology. Instead of focusing on actual barbering techniques, students are stuck learning womenโs haircutting methods that have little to nothing to do with why they enrolled. If someone wants to become a barber, they should be taught by experienced barbers โ not thrown into a watered-down mess of a program that lacks direction and consistency. What makes the situation even worse is how instructors are treated. Imagine being in class and watching your teacher get blindsided with news that their contract wonโt be renewed and that theyโre basically done within the week. That is unprofessional as hell and creates an unstable learni

Alexis Hardy has been an exceptional Academic Advisor at Daytona State College. From the very beginning, she has been attentive, thoughtful, and incredibly proactive in guiding me through the process. She asks the questions I didn't even know I needed to ask, making sure nothing slips through the cracks. What truly sets her apart is that while students can work with any admissions advisor, I will always go out of my way to work with her. As new adult student, stepping into college can feel overwhelming, but her guidance, reassurance, and genuine enthusiasm for my success made all the difference. She doesn't just do her job; Alexis elevates the entire experience. I'm beyond grateful for her support and would highly recommend her to anyone navigating their college journey!

Tonight, I attended the Departures & Thesis Opening Reception at the Southeast Museum of Photography at Daytona State College. The Departures & Thesis are annual exhibitions that highlight the artistry of recent graduates from Daytona State College, as well as graduating seniors in the B.S. Degree program at the University of Central Florida. What a WONDERFUL and LOVEY experience!!!!! The staff and artists were all so very kind and welcoming! The art.. much of the art left me speechless!!!! EXTREMELY impressive!!!! I can't wait to come back!!! I attended DSC, where I completed my associates degree in 2009. Before then, I'd often volunteer to help install photo exhibits at the former Southeast Museum of Photography building. Tonight was my first time in the newer building. Beautiful and very thoughtful architecture, even the floor tiles represent film. Brilliant! Bravo!!!! I am so very grateful to have attended tonight, and as I said, I can't wait to come back to see more!!!
